Safer web browsing
Visiting malicious websites is a major hazard, and not one you can avoid. Mis-spell or mistype a web address, or click on a button that offers a product, and you could be downloading malicious code to your computer that will put it out of action totally.
My advice? Install Malwarebytes, register it ($25) so you can schedule it and more importantly, so you will get realtime IP protection - this stops you from visiting bad websites.
And I recently also installed a free product called Key Scrambler. Very good, easy to install. Sometimes you have to turn it off, like when you're using LogMeIn or other remote access software, but that's not a hassle at all.
What does it do? "KeyScrambler Personal is a free plug-in for your Web browser that protects everything you type from keyloggers. It defeats keyloggers by encrypting your keystrokes at the keyboard driver level, deep within the operating system."
One last piece of Web browsing advice? Always Google for what you're looking for. Mistyping a URL or using a .com when it's really a .org can take you to bad websites in a click of a mouse button.
